Jan Erik Elgaard er ejer af ByensNyt.dk og driver også konsulentvirksomheden Elgaard Mancom i Hadsten. Jan Erik er aktiv i byens kulturliv bl.a. som formand for Favrskov Revyen og har gennem flere år været engageret i Kulturhuset Sløjfens bestyrelse. Han er desuden næstformand for Favrskov Gymnasium, medlem af Hadsten Rotary Klub og medforfatter på to bøger.
